A Little Outrage Can Take You a Long Way
It could be dangerous if only the negative part of it is played: Outrage. But many times outrage can be the inspiration you need to get something done. Michael Arrington was outraged at the level of coverage and criticism that startups were getting so he started TechCrunch. Another great example is Aaron Patzer and Mint.com. He saw an under served and underdeveloped market that needed a big dose of practical innovation and hard work.
The Leap From Marketer to Creative Technologist
Allison Mooney wrote a wonderful article on Why Agencies need to think like software companies. Truth is, I was a happy to find her article as it validates what we do at Tangelo, an internet marketing and technology company. We look at advertising and marketing on the internet as an opportunity to create an integrated and deep web experiences that can help the client establish a long term and more valuable relationship with their audience.
Free vs. Paid
Free can give a business the openness of mind that it needs to get to the next level. Paid can limit the evolution of that thinking. One cannot but wonder how far can some companies go if they would think about the value of their service on a different way. Look at Mint for example. A company that took an established personal finance model and made it free and reinvented the revenue stream. It sold to Intuit for $170 Million.
What Happens in Twitter Stays in Twitter

Arrington (www.techcrunch.com) was completely appalled that someone would spend so much money in a conference while Loic (www.seesmic.com) was 100% [...]
Twitter and the loss of storytelling
I love stories that start with “Once upon a time …”. I enjoy discovering a new book that engages you and transport you through the ages to times long gone or times that might never be. In a few words, I love the art of storytelling. Â A practice that to this day remains the only [...]

Twitter for free – not as in free beer but as in free speech
From Twitter’s monthly newsletter
Twitter developed a distributed queue server to route vast numbers
of messages and we named it Starling. Last month, Starling was
released as open source. In addition to giving back to the open
source community, Starling improves as the open source community
makes enhancements and upgrades.
